The delegates heard how Word of Mouth (WOM) can be one of the most powerful forms of marketing communications, but do we fully understand the effects of WOM? Moreover, do we have an adequate understanding of how WOM is spread via social media?

During the seminar Professor Jaywardhena shared with delegates his research around word of mouth promotion and its impact on business. He explored the positive and negative effects of WOM and demonstrated how the word of mouth messages people receive impact upon those messages they give out. He also examined what motivates people to spread WOM via social media, and the impact this can have on various audiences.
